Some shocking visuals have surfaced from Uttarakhand, where an alternative bridge has collapsed due to incessant rains and has directed the glacier coming in Chidwasa on the Gangotri-Gomukh walking route. The visuals that surfaced on social media show Kanwariyas who had gone to Gomukh are trapped.

According to the sources, two pilgrims have washed away and the rescue operations by SDRF teams are going on.

This is not the first time that something like this has come to light. Every year, several landslides are reported from the hilly areas, prominently from Uttarakhand. Recently, traffic on the Kotdwar-Pauri highway came to a sudden halt when debris from a hill fell onto the road, trapping vehicles stranded on the road.

The incident reportedly happened about four kilometres above Siddhbali, which is between Kotdwar and Dugadda. A vehicle also got damaged due to debris falling from the hill. It also injured four people and left one person missing.

In a separate incident, early on June 30, a large avalanche struck the Gandhi Sarovar, which is four kilometers above Kedarnath Dham. There were no casualties or damages to property when the avalanche, which started close to the Chorabari glacier, dropped into a valley. The phenomena happened at 5 in the morning, which was captured by pilgrims at the Kedarnath shrine.
