Pratapgarh: A shocking incident has unfolded in Uttar Pradesh, where a young man allegedly killed his girlfriend on the eve of her engagement. The incident has sent shivers down the spines of the local community.

A love story cut short

Jaichandra, a 22-year-old resident of Ragna Chhatarpur village, was reportedly in a relationship with 21-year-old Shalu, who lived in the same neighborhood. However, their love story was not destined for a happily-ever-after ending. When Shalu's family arranged her engagement with someone else, Jaichandra allegedly took a drastic step.

A final meeting, a fatal outcome

On Tuesday, under the pretense of one last meeting before the wedding, Jaichandra called Shalu to his home. Little did Shalu know, this visit would be her last. Police reports indicate that upon entering the house, Jaichandra took Shalu to a room and uttered chilling words: "If you are not mine, you will not be anyone else's." He then allegedly acted upon his possessive declaration, shooting Shalu dead.

Police take charge

Alerted by the incident, the police swiftly reached Jaichandra's residence. They recovered Shalu's body and sent it for post-mortem examination. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the absconding Jaichandra, with two police teams actively searching for him.

Residents in shock

The news of this horrific crime has left the residents of Pratapgarh reeling. The fact that the couple belonged to the same neighborhood adds another layer of tragedy to the situation. Shalu's family is understandably devastated, while the question of Jaichandra's motive looms large.
