New Delhi: A disturbing incident has come to light from Maharashtras Thane, , where a young woman was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted at a birthday party, leaving the community in shock. The harrowing event is said to have occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning at an apartment in the Shirgaon area of Bhiwandi, with the victim reportedly being targeted late Wednesday night, sparking widespread outrage and concern.Following the victims complaint, Thane police have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The accused include Santosh Shivram Rupawate (40), Shivam Sanjay Raje (23) and Aliska, also known as Bhumi Ravindra Mestram (20). According to a police officer who spoke to PTI, Aliska had invited the 22-year-old victim to her birthday party, where the other two suspects were already present.Details of the incidentAs the party progressed, the victim started to feel uncomfortable and tried to make her exit, but her attempts were frustrated when Aliska offered her a glass of lemon water, which unbeknownst to her, had been spiked with a sedative, according to the police investigation. After consuming the tainted drink, the victim began to experience severe dizziness and disorientation, at which point one of the suspects escorted her to the bathroom, where she was subjected to a horrific sexual assault. The sedative-laced beverage ultimately caused the victim to lose consciousness, rendering her helpless and vulnerable to the assault.Suspects charged with rape and poisoningThe police have filed charges against the suspects under Indian law for rape and poisoning and are continuing to investigate and gather evidence to build a strong case. The Thane police are working to uncover all the facts and ensure justice for the victim and are asking anyone with additional information to come forward to help with the investigation.
