In Ghaziabad, a dispute over water usage at a farm escalated dramatically, resulting in a shooting incident that left two dead and one crticially injured. The conflict, which began over irrigation, took place in the village of Khidoda under the jurisdiction of the Modinagar police station, significantly heightening communal tensions. Villagers protested the killing by blocking the Ganga canal road, prompting the deployment of heavy police forces to maintain order.

Rising Communal Tensions

The altercation appears to have involved individuals from different communities, exacerbating the tension. A strong police presence has been established to prevent further escalation. The farm at the center of the dispute belongs to Vedprakash Tyagi, a resident of Khidoda village. Pappu, a 60-year-old from Dholadi village in Meerut’s Jani area, had leased the crop from Tyagi.

Escalation of Conflict

On Friday night, Pappu was irrigating the farm using a canal, which led to a disagreement with a neighbouring farmer. Vedprakash Tyagi initially intervened to resolve the matter, but tensions continued to rise.

Around 11 PM, Pappu, accompanied by his sons Chand and Raja, was travelling to the farm on a motorcycle from their village Dholadi. Upon reaching the canal road, they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire on them. Following the attack, Pappu and Chand were thrown into the canal, while Raja’s body was found at the scene. Pappu remains missing, and Chand is in critical condition. Given the communal implications of the incident, tensions remain high, and heavy police forces are stationed in the area to maintain peace.
