In a distressing turn of events, a minor girl in Ghaziabad has alleged that she was raped and assaulted by a scrap dealer from a different community. Following the report, the Link Road police station registered a case under the appropriate sections and apprehended the accused.

According to the statement of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sahibabad, despite the police's prompt response, rumors quickly spread suggesting that the victim had been gang-raped rather than assaulted by a single individual. This misinformation sparked a violent reaction from certain groups, leading to road blockades, vandalism, and arson at a local junk shop owned by the accused.

Police Response and Investigation

The entire sequence of events has been meticulously documented through video and photographs. A separate case has been lodged at Link Road police station concerning the vandalism and arson. Authorities are actively working to identify those responsible for the damage and will ensure that appropriate legal actions are taken against them.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Trans Hindon Zone, Shri Nimish Patil, addressed the situation, stating, “The girl identified Faizan as the perpetrator, leading to his arrest. Despite this, rioters propagated false claims of gang rape, resulting in significant damage. An FIR has been filed against the rioters, and they are being identified through video evidence.”

The situation remained volatile throughout the day as the crowd continued to create chaos. The police eventually intervened with a lathi charge to disperse the rioters. The victim, a Hindu, had named a Muslim individual in her complaint. As the investigation progresses, authorities are looking into whether additional suspects are involved.
