Police lathi charge Yati Narsinghanand's supporter: In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, tensions escalated as police resorted to lathi-charging protesters on their way to a panchayat held at Dasna Devi temple in support of controversial Hindu leader, Mahamandaleshwar Yati Narsinghanand Giri. Around 50 individuals were detained by authorities during the protest. This incident follows a highly inflammatory statement made by Yati Narsinghanand, which has triggered widespread condemnation and legal action.

Provocative remarks by Yati Narsinghanand surface

Yati Narsinghanand Giri, known for his controversial views, made incendiary remarks during a public gathering, which were captured in a video circulating on social media. In the video, he urged Hindus to replace the traditional burning of Ravana's effigy during Dussehra with that of Prophet Mohammad, sparking outrage across communities. The Ghaziabad Police quickly responded, registering an FIR against him for his provocative speech.

Yati Narsinghanand's fiery statements at public event

During his address, Yati Narsinghanand spoke about the symbolic burning of effigies during Dussehra. He began by reflecting on historical figures like Meghnad and Kumbhakarna, saying, "We burn Meghnad every year. A person of character like Meghnad was never born on this earth. We burn Kumbhakarna every year, a scientist-warrior like Kumbhakarna was never born on this earth, and after Kumbhakarna, such a person of character. And what was his fault?"

He further escalated his rhetoric by comparing the traditional villain Ravana to modern figures. "Ravana committed a small crime, and today, after millions of years, we still burn Ravana. Now, there are criminals in front of whom Ravana has no existence," he asserted, suggesting that contemporary figures are far worse than Ravana.

Calls to burn effigies of Prophet Mohammad

The controversy reached a boiling point when Yati Narsinghanand directly targeted Prophet Mohammad, blaming him for global conflicts and violence. In the video, he called upon Hindus to burn effigies of the Prophet during Dussehra instead of Ravana, saying, "If you want to burn something today, then I appeal to all Hindus—on every Dussehra, start burning the effigy of Mohammad. The one who raped millions of sisters and daughters, the Arab looter Mohammad, is responsible for the bloodshed happening across the world. If you want to burn, start with Mohammad."

Police crackdown on protesters

In response to these controversial comments and the rising unrest, Ghaziabad police took action against protesters who gathered at Dasna Devi temple in support of Yati Narsinghanand. The demonstrators, who were heading towards a panchayat, faced lathi charges from the police. Approximately 50 protesters were detained during the operation.

The inflammatory remarks by Yati Narsinghanand have not only led to legal repercussions but have also fueled tensions in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter, while protests and outrage over his statements persist.
