Ghaziabad: Muslim man hides religion, forces Hindu girl for abortion after marriage

Crime News: In a disturbing case from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim man named Danish has been arrested for allegedly marrying and sexually exploiting a Hindu girl by concealing his true identity. The victim has accused Danish of posing as a Hindu god, deceiving her into marriage, and forcing her to undergo an abortion.

Accusations of exploitation

According to the girl's statement, Danish approached her under the name "Dev" and gained her trust through false promises. The two met while the girl was working in marketing at a company in Ghaziabad. Danish, pretending to be a Hindu, befriended her at a bus stand and took her phone number under the pretext of helping her obtain a driving license. Gradually, he manipulated her into a relationship, promising marriage and even visiting temples with her to reinforce his false identity. 

The victim alleges that Danish, posing as "Dev," took her to an Oyo hotel, where he coerced her into wearing a mangalsutra, symbolizing marriage in Hindu customs. He then forced her into a physical relationship, exploiting her trust. The girl says that Danish also accompanied her to religious sites, including the Kalka Ji Temple in Delhi, to maintain his Hindu disguise.

Revelation and fallout

Eventually, after the girl accepted his marriage proposal, Danish revealed his true identity as a Muslim. The revelation devastated the victim, leaving her emotionally shattered. Following the disclosure, Danish allegedly distanced himself from the girl. With no way to contact him, she visited his village, where she was met with hostility and violence from his family members.

Police investigation underway

The case, initially registered in Hapur district's Kapurpur police station, has now been transferred to the Sahibabad police station. ACP Sahibabad Rajneesh Upadhyay confirmed that a zero FIR was filed on September 12 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police have arrested Danish, and further investigation is underway. The authorities are also probing whether this case falls under the controversial "love jihad" angle, a term used to describe alleged forced religious conversions through marriage.
