Crime News: A deeply troubling incident has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a man has been arrested for allegedly raping his minor cousin. The girl, who became pregnant as a result of the assault, recently gave birth to a stillborn baby at four months. The case came to light after the police were informed by a private hospital in the Sahibabad area.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Upadhyay, the accused had visited Ghaziabad from Agouta village in Bulandshahr district four months ago to attend a wedding. During his stay with the victim’s family, he is alleged to have sexually assaulted the minor, leading to her pregnancy. On July 11, the minor delivered a stillborn baby.
The police were alerted to the case by the private hospital in Sahibabad Kotwali area. Despite reaching out to the victim’s parents, they refused to provide details or file a formal complaint. The authorities made several attempts to persuade the family to cooperate, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
In response to the gravity of the situation, ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay noted that the police took suo motu cognizance of the matter. Through investigative efforts and surveillance, the authorities identified the accused. An FIR was filed on July 13 under Section 64 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested on Sunday evening and has been remanded to jail after the completion of legal procedures.
