A young woman from Ginjoi Khurd village in Gaya district, Bihar, passed away during treatment in Ranchi, a week after being assaulted and strangled by a local youth. The tragic incident, which occurred on the morning of November 13, has sparked outrage in the area.The incidentAccording to the victims brother, Mithun Sharma, the accused, identified as Ravi Saw, entered their house around 8 a.m. when the 20-year-old woman, Karishma Kumari, was alone. Ravi allegedly attempted to harass her, then used a dupatta to strangle her and tied her hands and legs before fleeing the scene, leaving her unconscious.When the family returned home, they found Karishma in a critical condition. Her clothes were disheveled, and she was bleeding from her nose and mouth. She was rushed to a private hospital in Gaya and later referred to Ranchis RIMS hospital on November 16 due to her worsening condition. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries on the night of November 19.Previous confrontationThe victims brother revealed that Karishma had a heated argument with Ravi just a day before Diwali. Ravi had reportedly harassed her and threatened to kill her. Karishma had informed her mother, who subsequently complained to Ravis family. Despite the warning, Ravi allegedly committed the heinous act just 20 days later.Police actionFatehpur police station in-charge, Prashant Kumar Singh, confirmed that an FIR was lodged based on the familys complaint. Following Karishmas death, murder charges have been added. The accused has been absconding since the incident, but police are conducting raids to apprehend him.
