Mukhtar Ansari, a gangster-turned-politician, was recently admitted to a hospital in Banda, Uttar Pradesh after his health deteriorated while in jail. According to the sources, Ansari was reportedly suffering from a urinary tract infection (UTI) for a few days before being hospitalized. He was admitted to the Rani Durgavati Medical College in a very critical condition from jail at around 3:30 am on March 26.

There are conflicting reports about Ansari's current condition. Some sources say his condition is stable, while others maintain it's critical.

The hospital's ICU has reportedly been heavily guarded since his admission.

Sources also say that Ansari has a history of making accusations against the jail administration. In one of his virtual appearances before court, Ansari had accused the jail administration of giving slow poison in the court.

In the letter, Mukhtar Ansari claimed that the meal he was given on March 19 had been contaminated with a toxin. When he ate it, he became sick.

In the latter, he described how, right after eating, he began to experience excruciating agony in his hands and legs' nerves, followed by a sudden coldness in his feet and hands. Ansari, who was detained in the Banda jail, was earlier on March 13 sentenced to life in prison in connection with the 36-year-old Ghazipur fraudulent arms license case.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for March 29. In March 2022, the case against Ansari and his twelve companions was filed.

Meanwhile, the official statement from the district administration, police administration and jail administration has not stated anything.
