On Wednesday morning, the Gurugram police successfully apprehended a wanted gangster implicated in the murder of a daily wage labourer the previous year. Identified as Saurabh, also known as Sandu, the suspect was taken into custody following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officials on the Gurugram-Tauru Road. Sources familiar with the operation revealed that Sandu sustained injuries during the shootout and was promptly apprehended.During the arrest, law enforcement recovered a country-made pistol along with cartridges from the apprehended suspect, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation.Background of the IncidentThe apprehended individual, Sandu, was a prime suspect in the fatal shooting of a wage labourer inside a liquor shop located in Manesar on June 16, 2023, according to police sources. Sandu, 24 years old, was known to be closely associated with Lipin Nehra and operated as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Authorities further noted that Sandu had a history of involvement in at least two dozen criminal cases across Gurugram, Dadri, and Rohtak.Operational DetailsAssistant Commissioner of Police Varun Dahiya disclosed that law enforcement received intelligence regarding Sandus presence near Bar Gujjar village along the Gurugram-Tauru Road. In response, two specialised crime teams from Manesar and Sector 31 were mobilized to intercept the suspect. Upon encountering Sandu on his motorcycle, the police signaled for him to halt, triggering an exchange of gunfire initiated by Sandu against the police teams.The confrontation escalated as Sandu discharged multiple rounds at the police personnel and their vehicles.
