In Maharashtra, the celebrations began early with the morning ‘aarti’ and prayers at Mumbai’s iconic Shri Siddhivinayak Temple. Devotees flocked to the temple to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Ganesha, marking the start of the ten-day festival that holds deep cultural and religious significance for millions.

President Murmu’s message of unity and brotherhood

On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, President Droupadi Murmu extended her heartfelt greetings to citizens in India and abroad. "On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad," she said in her message. She emphasized the festival’s role in promoting social harmony and brotherhood, stating, “Bhagwan Ganesh is a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, and prosperity. This festival motivates us to be humble and dutiful and also promotes social cohesion.” The President urged citizens to work together for a peaceful and prosperous India.

Vice President Dhankhar’s call for unity

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also shared his greetings, saying, "Lord Ganesha, the embodiment of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune, holds a special place in the hearts of millions." He encouraged citizens to embrace the festival’s message of overcoming challenges with unity, resilience, and courage. “May Lord Ganesha bless all with peace, prosperity, and happiness,” he added.
