The much-anticipated G20 Summit has kicked off in New Delhi with top leaders of various countries and organisations present at the gathering. While leaders such as US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are all busy in conventions and discussions, what are the respective wives of the esteemed heads of state and delegates doing in the national capital? 

With the capital city beautified to host the foreign guests, let us look at some of the arrangements that have been made to entertain them. 

Millet farming in India 

At the G20 Summit dishes made of Millet are being served as India tries to increase the demand for the grain in the world market. 

As such arrangements have been to show the wives of G20 leaders how millet farming is done at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute by women farmers. 

The women have been brought from remote villages of India on September 9 as mentioned by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje on Wednesday, 

‘Bazaar’ for G20 Summit delegates and their wives

The Ministry of Culture has also put together a ‘bazaar’ for the spouses to curate the idea of the best of India ranging from traditional craftsmen to the higher end of the Indian culture. 

Clothing designed by one of India’s top fashion designers Manish Malhotra has been put on display for the wives to look at and even buy if they want to. Malhotra’s Phulkari collection has been put forward that shows a rich blend of traditional and modern Punjabi outfits. 

Other than Malhotra’s top designs, Kanchipuram sarees from the south of India have also been put up as well some beautiful handprinted Kalamkari sarees are on display. 

Authentic Kashmiri carpets and pashmina shawls have also been brought from Kashmir for the wives of the world leaders. 

Other than this home décor sets and jewellery are also put up by the Ministry of Culture for the G20 delegates and their spouses.
