The G20 Summit in New Delhi is right around the corner and as the national capital gears up for the event, Northern Railways has decided to cancel and divert over 200 passenger train services, and 36 train services will be short-terminated or short-originated temporarily from September 8 to 11 here, a notification stated on Saturday.

This development is only temporary as security arrangements need to be maintained at the strictest. These trains have been either canceled or diverted to other routes or stations temporarily between September 8 and 11, an official statement said.

How will train cancellation be maintained?

The schedule says that over 90 train services have been cancelled for September 9, more than 100 passenger trains are to be cancelled for September 10, and for September 11 the Delhi-Rewari Express Special and Rewari-Delhi Express Special trains will be cancelled.

Besides, the statement added that 70 trains, including Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Varanasi-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani among others, have been given additional stoppage stations to minimise passenger discomfort, while the origin and termination of 36 trains have also been changed and three trains will not stop at Delhi’s Kishan Ganj during the summit.

Most of these trains originate and terminate at the New Delhi railway station however, during the time of the Summit the trains will terminate or originate from Ghaziabad or Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations.

“People who have planned their travel during these days are advised to check the train timings and routes to avoid any inconvenience,” a railway official said.
