As India is all set for the G20 Summit in New Delhi, several top global leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and more have already arrived yesterday (Friday). Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a private dinner for Joe Biden on Friday night after holding a successful bilateral talks at his residence in the national capital.

PM Modi, US President Joe Biden hold bilateral talks

During the meeting, PM Modi and US President Biden discussed a wide range of issues that will further deepen the bond between India and the US.

Taking it to Twitter, PM Modi has welcomed the US president at his New Delhi residence. He wrote, “Happy to have welcomed @POTUS @JoeBiden to 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. Our meeting was very productive.”

“We were able to discuss numerous topics which will further economic and people-to-people linkages between India and USA. The friendship between our nations will continue to play a great role in furthering global good,” the prime minister said.

Both leaders to deepen Indo-US bonds 

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), in a post on X, said, “Their discussions include a wide range of issues and will further deepen the bond between India and the USA.”

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US NSA Jake Sullivan were also present in the meeting from the US side while the Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval.

According to the Indian government sources, PM Modi conveyed his appreciation for Biden’s vision and commitment to further strengthening ‘the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, which is based on shared democratic values, strategic convergences and strong people-to-people ties.’

Both leaders commended the progress in implementing the outcomes of PM Modi’s visit to the US in June 2023, including under the India-US Initiative for Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), sources said.

More on bilateral talks held at PM Modi’s residence

Briefing about the bilateral talks, an official said, “They welcomed the sustained momentum in bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of defence, trade, investment, education, health, research, innovation, culture and people-to-people ties.”

Modi and Biden agreed that the Indo-US relations were beneficial not only for the people of the two nations but also for the global good. The sources said the prime minister also thanked President Biden for the consistent support given by the United States in ensuring the success of India’s G20 presidency.
