As US President Joe Biden is all set to land in the national capital this evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a private dinner for him, just a day before the historic G20 Summit.
President Biden, who has left for India on Thursday, is expected to drive straight to PM Modi’s residence after his arrival, said the sources.
The two leaders will then have a private dinner together after holding bilateral talks.
Notably, this is the first President Joe Biden’s visit to India, three months after PM Modi’s State visit, during which he hosted him for dinner at the White House.
The prime minister and the US president are expected to make several deals during their bilateral talks, including GE jet engine deal and civil nuclear technology, said National Advisor Jake Sullivan to the media.
Further, the US officials said that both leaders are also likely to review ongoing cooperation in areas of clean energy, trade, high technology, and defence and how the two countries can contribute to dealing with some of the pressing challenges facing globally.
Before flying to India to attend the G20 Summit, Joe Biden took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, saying, “I’m headed to the G20 – the premier forum for international economic cooperation – focused on making progress on Americans’ priorities, delivering for developing nations, and showing our commitment to the G20 as a forum that can deliver.”
Apart from the US President, PM Modi will also meet with the leaders of Mauritius and Bangladesh at his Lok Kalyan Marg home. Then, on Saturday, he will hold bilateral meetings with the UK, Japan, Germany and Italy.
On the final day of the G20 summit, the prime minister will hold a working lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron. He will do a pull-aside meeting with Canada and bilateral meetings with Comoros, Turkey, UAE, South Korea, EU/EC, Brazil and Nigeria, said the sources today.
