India is hosting the 18th G20 Summit in the national capital today under its presidency. This prestigious event, which brings together leaders from the world’s 20 leading economies, is being held from September 09 to 10 at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan.
US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are among the top global leaders who are going to attend the two-day event in New Delhi. Taking it to X, PM Modi said, “Spoke at Session 1 of the G20 Summit on the subject of One Earth. Highlighted the need to further human centric development, which is also something Indian culture has always emphasised on.”
“It is with a spirit of One Earth that India has worked on initiatives such as LiFE Mission, emphasised on International Year of Millets, launched Green Grids Initiative – One Sun, One World, One Grid, harnessed solar power, encouraged natural farming and the National Green Hydrogen Mission,” he added in his tweet.

In the high-profile dinner hosted by President Draupadi Murmu, several chief ministers including Nitish Kumar, Hemant Soren, Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann confirmed their attendance.
Moreover, Former Prime Ministers Dr Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda are also invited to grace the occasion. However, amid the deteriorating health conditions, JD(S) chief might not be seen tonight.
The special dinner hosted by President Draupadi Murmu for G20 leaders on Saturday evening will witness a musical performance showcasing ancient classical instruments such ‘Ravanahatha’ and ‘Rudra Veena’ among others.
The ceremonial dinner to be held tonight at the Bharat Mandapam venue of the G20 Leaders Summit in the national capital will celebrate the country’s rich musical heritage – a mix of different styles of classical and contemporary music.
The performance ‘Bharat Vadya Darshanam’ — Musical Journey of India — by the ‘Gaandharva Aaradhyam’ group will be showcased during the dinner hosted by President Murmu.

Today, the foreign delegates will get a unique memento by PM Modi. This memento would be a hand-made artefact of brass in the shape of a lotus, named ‘Kamalam’, from Mahoba in Bundelkhand.
PM Modi is likely to have four bilateral meetings today. He will have one-on-one talks with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and the leaders of Japan, Germany and Italy. The bilateral meetings will take place after a working lunch at the G20 venue.
Incidentally, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni have all visited India already this year.

The G20 Summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan from September 09 to September 10. The venue has been decked up and a 27-foot Nataraj statue has been installed at the entrance.
In order to decorate the national capital, the authorities have planted nearly seven lakh flowering and foliage plants in different plants of Delhi. Nearly, 15,000 metric tonnes of solid waste have been cleared, and over 100 sculptures and 150 fountains with different designs have been installed at various locations to give the city an aesthetic look.
The G20 theme this year is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future” under the presidency of India.
He is representing China on behalf of President Xi Jinping.

Notably, the G20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union (EU). Also, it is a premier forum for fostering international economic cooperation.
The 19 members include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The G20 Summit under the Indian presidency will witness a wide range of discussions on food security, debt problems of vulnerable countries, and climate action.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is projecting India’s presidency of the group and the Summit as a showcase for the country’s fast-growing economy and its rising position as a global leader. Meanwhile, he will also hold bilateral talks with the global leaders.
