After successfully completing the first day of the G20 Summit, India is all set to host Day 2. The global leaders will start today’s programme with a visit to Rajghat to pay tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial. Then, they will attend the third and concluding session of the G20 Summit, called “One Future”, at Bharat Mandapam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the India-Middle East-Europe mega economic corridor. The initiative involves India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, France, Italy, Germany and the US. Meanwhile, the G20 has adopted a consensus declaration on issues facing the bloc, PM Modi announced on Saturday during the Summit. That’s not it, the African Union (AU) now is a permanent G20, during Session 1.
“I think it (craft exhibition) is wonderful…I think the presidency has done a very good job of being a voice of the global south & the fact that they managed to get a consensus is a testament to the leadership of G 20…,” says Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.
Chief Co-ordinator of India’s G 20 presidency Harsh Vardhan Shringla says, “It was momentous because, in a normal multilateral process, you have to go to the end of any Summit to attain a consensus on an outcome document…The fact that we have come up with the consensus document with the support of our G20 partners on the first day of our presidency, is a tremendously positive news…”

On Day 2 of G20 Summit, all foreign delegates including US President Joe Biden, UK PM Rishi Sunak, and others visited Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang arrive at Delhi’s Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Spain’s Vice-President Nadia Calvino, Minister of Economy of United Mexican States, Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández arrive at Delhi’s Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres, World Bank President Ajay Banga, DG World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom arrive at Delhi’s Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath.
“At a moment when the global economy is suffering from the overlapping shocks of the climate crisis, fragility, and conflict, this year’s Summit proved that the G20 can still drive solutions to our most pressing issues,” says Biden while sharing a video on X.
Ahead of the global leaders’ visit to Rajghat, security near DDU Marg in Delhi has been heightened.
Taking it to X, PM Modi wrote, “Indeed, the inclusion of the @_AfricanUnion in the G20 is a significant stride towards a more inclusive global dialogue. We look forward to collaborative efforts that benefit not only our respective continents but also the entire world.”

08:15 am – 09:00 am: The leaders and heads of the delegations will arrive at Rajghat in individual motorcades.
09:00 am – 09:20 am: The leaders will then lay a wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi. Also, a live performance of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite devotional songs.
At 09:20 am: Leaders and Heads of Delegations will then move to Bharat Mandapam’s Leaders’ Lounge.
09:40 am – 10:15 am: Arrival of leaders and heads of delegation at Bharat Mandapam
10:15am – 10:30am: Tree planting ceremony at Bharat Mandapam’s South Plaza
10:30 am – 12:30 pm: The third session of the Summit, called ‘One Future’, will take place at the venue, followed by the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.
