The highly anticipated G20 Summit is all set to begin today (September 09) at 9:00 am onwards in New Delhi under India’s presidency. The mega event, which brings the world’s 20 top leaders of the leading economic countries together, is being held at Pragati Maidan’s Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre. The agenda of G20, which will be held from September 09 to September 10, includes discussions on climate change, debt, food security, sustainability, and geopolitical conflict.

Under India’s presidency, the theme of G20 has been highlighted as ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future.’

On Saturday, the world will witness the history 18th edition of the Global Leaders’ Summit. Several top leaders, including US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are among them who are going to attend the two-day event in the national capital.

Here is itinerary for G20 Day 1:

9:30 am – 10:30 am: Leaders and delegation heads arrive at Bharat Mandapam. Welcome photo with the Prime Minister at the Tree of Life Foyer. Then, gather at Leaders’ Lounge, Level 2.

10:30 am – 1:30 pm: First session ‘One Earth’ at Summit Hall, followed by a working lunch.

1:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Various bilateral meetings will be held.

3:30 pm – 4:45 pm: Second session ‘One Family’ at the summit venue. Leaders return to their hotels afterwards.

07: 00 pm – 08: 00 pm: Leaders and delegation heads arrive for dinner, starting with a welcome photo.

08:00 pm – 09:00 pm: Dinner and discussions with the global leaders.

09:00 pm – 09:45 pm: Gathering in Leaders’ Lounge at Bharat Mandapam to conclude the day.

Key Agenda of G20 Summit

The G20 Summit under the Indian presidency will witness a wide range of discussions on food security, debt problems of vulnerable countries, and climate action.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is projecting India’s presidency of the group and the Summit as a showcase for the country’s fast-growing economy and its rising position as a global leader. Meanwhile, he will also hold bilateral talks with the global leaders.

However, it is said that the absence of key figures like Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin adds an intriguing dynamic to the proceedings.
