From Punjab's heart to world stage: Harjeet Grewal's efforts shine in 'Sikh Achiever's Award' win

Amidst the glittering lights of Mumbai's Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium, a star emerged from Punjab's firmament. Harjeet Singh Grewal, a stalwart in Punjab's Information and Public Relations department, ascended to new heights as he was conferred with the illustrious 'Sikh Achiever's Award'. Earlier, he was awarded with 'Seva Award' and 'Punjab State Award.'

Organized by the Sat Sri Akal Charitable Trust Mumbai, the event lauded the efforts of seven distinguished Sikhs who have left a big imapct on society. The ceremony was graced with captivating performances by renowned singers Shamsher Lehri and Birender Dhillon, alongside a captivating act by stage artist Satinder Kaur Satti.

Grewal's dedication to Gatka

President of the World Gatka Federation Harjeet Grewal expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award. He emphasized its importance as a recognition of his unwavering dedication to community service.

Promoting cultural heritage

Grewal's contribution lies in his relentless promotion and preservation of Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art. His leadership as President of the National Gatka Association of India has been instrumental in securing Gatka's status as a competitive sport at various national events, including the National School Games and the National Games.

Beyond national recognition, Grewal's initiatives have led to Gatka's inclusion in Punjab's sports department's state gradation list and integration into the Punjab School Education Board's curriculum. With an ambitious vision, Grewal aims to elevate Gatka to an international level, advocating for its inclusion in prestigious events like the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and eventually, the Olympic Games.
