New Delhi: The shocking murder of renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab's Mansa district in 2022 thrust gangster Lawrence Bishnoi into the international spotlight. Today, the notorious leader of the Bishnoi gang is again making headlines following the gang's alleged involvement in the assassination of veteran Mumbai political leader Baba Siddique.

A deadly assassination

On Saturday night, Baba Siddique, a 66-year-old NCP leader and former minister, was fatally shot outside his son's office in Bandra East, Mumbai, by three assailants who identified themselves as members of the Bishnoi gang, despite Lawrence being incarcerated in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail. This violent incident underscores the gang's pervasive operations, as they continue to orchestrate killings even from behind bars.

The Expansive network of the Bishnoi gang

With a sprawling network that extends across various Indian states—including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh—and international connections, particularly in Canada, the Bishnoi gang is anything but a minor syndicate. Their activities encompass extortion, murder, and arms trafficking, with high-profile targets, including celebrities and businessmen.
