This decision was made by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government on Monday, severely hurting Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (U), a crucial BJP ally. Another factor is that JD(U) came into the NDA alliance on the condition of special status for Bihar. The opposition party RJD commented on the note, criticising the state government of Bihar. 

7. Supreme Court quashes 'nameplate' display directive at eateries on Kanwar Yatra route

The Supreme Court has stayed the directive asking eateries on Kanwariya Yatra route to put owners' names in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. The directive from the top court has come after the state governments made it mandatory for the eateries to mention the name of the owners en route to Kanwar Yatra.

8. Don't want reform...: Bangladesh student group halts protests over fatal clashes

Bangladeshi students announced a temporary suspension of their protests on Monday which have escalated into deadly violence. Nahid Islam, the leader of the Students Against Discrimination group, stated, "We did not want reform at the expense of so much blood." The group has paused their protests for 48 hours, hoping to see changes from the government during this period.

9. Common Entrance Test to replace NEET in Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah

The Karnataka administration, led by the Congress party, has approved a law that aims to do away with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in the state. During the Monday state cabinet meeting, the idea was presented and approved.  The bill opposes the NEET test and suggests that it be tied to the Common Entrance Test (CET) in Karnataka or replaced with another medical entrance exam.
