Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly condemned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia for posing an indecent question to a contestant on Samay Raina’s popular show, India’s Got Latent. Addressing the media on Monday (February 10), Fadnavis stated that comedians and influencers must adhere to ethical boundaries and should face action if they cross them.
The Chief Minister expressed his disapproval of the controversy, emphasizing that freedom of speech should not infringe upon others' rights.
“Certain things have been said and presented in a very wrong manner, as I have come to know... This is absolutely wrong. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but our freedom ends where we encroach upon someone else’s freedom. This is not right. I believe that even expression has its limits,” Fadnavis said.

He further added, “Our society has established certain norms regarding obscenity, and if someone crosses those boundaries, it is a very serious matter. Action should be taken against this.”
Meanwhile, a formal complaint has been lodged in Mumbai against Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija (The Rebel Kid), show host Samay Raina, and the organizers of India’s Got Latent. The complaint accuses them of using ‘abusive language’ and ‘promoting obscenity’ on the show, with demands for strict action. However, none of the accused have responded to the controversy yet.
The backlash stems from an episode of India’s Got Latent, where Ranveer, appearing as a special guest alongside Apoorva Makhija and Ashish Chanchlani, asked a contestant a highly inappropriate question.
He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
The remark quickly triggered outrage on social media, with users slamming Ranveer for his indecency. Many called for legal action, with some demanding that he be jailed. Critics also pointed out that fellow panellists, including Apoorva and Samay, did not denounce the comment but instead encouraged the conversation, drawing further backlash.
India’s Got Latent has become one of the most-watched comedy shows on YouTube, gaining massive traction among online audiences. It has featured prominent celebrities like Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Tanmay Bhatt, Farah Khan, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Raftaar, Poonam Pandey, Tony Kakkar, Avika Gor, and Raghu Ram.
Samay Raina, the show’s host, rose to fame after India’s Got Latent became a viral sensation. He was also the co-winner of Comicstaan 2, a renowned stand-up comedy competition.
With the controversy gaining momentum, all eyes are now on the legal proceedings and how the accused influencers respond to the growing criticism.
