Four terrorists trying to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were killed on Friday in the Kala Jungle of the Machhal sector in Kupwara. The operation to neutralise the terrorists was carried out by a joint force of the Indian Army and J&K Police.

Kashmir police promises more counter-terrorism ops

The Kashmir Zone Police, confirming the encounter of the terrorists on Twitter, also promised to carry on more counter-terrorism operations in all three regions of the state. The focus of the operations will be on ‘foreign terrorists’ – referring to the recent influx of terrorists trying to cross over from PoK.

Operations by the joint Army-police task force recently arrested two terrorists belonging to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit on Thursday. Large caches of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.

Similarly, on June 16, the joint task force killed five terrorists belonging to the banned JK Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) in the Jumagund area. The militants were trying to cross over from the other side of the Line of Control when they were encountered by the security forces.
