Chhattisgarh: Four Naxals, including a leader, and one police constable have been reportedly killed in the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh. The encounter was reported from dense South Abujmarh forest on the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts.

Arms recovered:

The security forces recovered a weapon cache, comprising an AK-47, SLR, and other automatic arms. This recovery is a success in the campaign against Naxal violence.

Head constable Sannu Karam

The operation, which began on Saturday, killed Dantewada DRG Head Constable Sannu Karam. Teams of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur, and Kondagaon are working hard. "The encounter is still active, and operations are underway," IG Bastar P. Sundarraj said.

A region under siege

The South Abujmarh forest, considered a Maoist bastion for long, has witnessed heightened security presence lately. The senior police officials have confirmed that search operations are still on to ensure complete neutralization of Naxalite elements in the area.

Recent encounters highlight rising security efforts

This is the latest operation similar to the one that happened on Friday in Kandeshar village under Gariaband district where three Naxalites were neutralized and weapons recovered. Earlier in December, while securing a forward base in Sukma district, CRPF's CoBRA commandos suffered injuries in an exchange of fire with Naxals. In another incident, two Naxals were killed in the Nendra-Punnur forests under the jurisdiction of Basaguda Police, where two 12-bore guns, explosives, uniforms, and propaganda materials were recovered.

Solid progress against naxal threats

Operations in the Abujhmaad region, a former stronghold of Naxals, are seen to have intensified and, so far, achieved noteworthy successes in nipping the insurgents' frenzy of violence and retaking territories. The present encounter highlights the persistent challenges in fighting Maoist violence but underlines the dedication of the security forces in ensuring regional peace and stability.
