Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique quits Congress after 48 years

Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique has announced his resignation from the Indian National Congress party after a long association spanning 48 years. Siddique made the announcement on social media, stating that he was resigning from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.

In his statement, Siddique expressed gratitude to everyone who had been a part of his journey within the Congress party. However, he chose not to elaborate further, mentioning that some things are better left unsaid.

The timing of Siddique's resignation coincides with the Election Commission of India's recognition of the Ajit Pawar faction as the authentic National Congress Party (NCP). 

It's worth noting that Siddique's son currently serves as a Congress MLA from Bandra (East) in Mumbai.
