New Delhi: Former Chief Minister Champai Soren and 10 other leaders of the JMM-led coalition were sworn in as ministers in the Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand on Monday. Champai Soren had resigned from his position as Chief Minister on July 3. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.

New faces in cabinet

The 12-member cabinet, including the Chief Minister, features several new faces. Among them are Irfan Ansari, Congress's MLA from Jamtara, Deepika Pandey Singh, Congress's MLA from Mahagama, and Baidynath Ram, JMM's MLA from Latehar. Ram's inclusion is notable as he had previously been excluded from the ministerial list in Champai Soren's cabinet, which he had described as an "insult."

Several ministers retained their positions in the new cabinet. These include Rameshwar Oraon and Banna Gupta from Congress, as well as JMM's Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, Hafizul Hasan, Dipak Birua, and Bebi Devi. Notably, Satyanand Bhokta from RJD continues to serve as a minister.
