Former MP and influential figure Dhananjay Singh received major relief from the Allahabad High Court on Saturday. He was granted bail by the court. However, the High Court upheld the seven-year sentence. He will not be able to contest elections for now.

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to former MP Dhananjay Singh from Jaunpur. He was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Jaunpur MP/MLA Court in a case related to kidnapping and extortion.

The demand to cancel the sentence was dismissed by the court. Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh's bench granted bail to former MP Dhananjay Singh. It is worth mentioning that the hearing of the case against former MP Dhananjay Singh from Jaunpur, who is accused of kidnapping project manager Abhinav Singhal from Namami Gange, demanding ransom, using abusive language, and issuing threats, concluded in the Allahabad High Court on Thursday based on his bail application.

After the hearing conducted by Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh's single bench, a decision was reserved. The court pronounced its verdict on Saturday. He has been shifted to Bareilly jail today.

It is noteworthy that in the case of abduction, former MP Dhananjay Singh, until the final verdict was pronounced by the High Court after filing an appeal against the seven-year sentence from Jaunpur's special court, had been knocking on the doors of the High Court to stop the sentence and be released on bail.
