The sudden downpour transformed the forts steps into cascading waterfalls, trapping visitors. The steps of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajs fort quickly became dangerous for people. Fortunately, iron chains installed along the steps provided some measure of safety, allowing tourists to hold on and stabilise themselves. It is important to note that hilly areas and water bodies are more prone to cloudbursts and landslides in the monsoon. Keeping the safety of the people in mind, the Karnataka government has banned some waterfalls. Recently, the Karnataka Police responded to the tourists disobedience with an unusual tactic: they seized their clothing. The visitors were warned and briefly detained before being let to depart.
