Flood havoc in Shahjahanpur, medical services disrupted due to knee-level water

Some disturbing visuals have surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur where National Highway 24 has got affected due to floods. The speed of the traffic has been slowed down due to water.  

In the visuals, people living around the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway can be seen migrating. The government Medical College has also submerged with up to knee-feet water level. Reportedly, 300 patients were shifted to other hospitals.

The district administration has evacuated all the patients to CSC, PSC and Vaurn Medical College. Visuals show that people are moving out of the flooded hospital. According to the sources, the evacuation was aimed at ensuring the safety of the people. 

Meanwhile, it is important to note that the heavy rains in the state have flooded almost 12 districts and have affected over 100 villages and croplands. Recently, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh visited the affected areas to take stock of the situation after residents of regions like Lakhimpur, and Pilibhit got majorly affected.

Ensure relief material for rain-hit: UP Deputy CM

Brijesh Pathak, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state on Friday instructed the officials to ensure the essential services to the flood-hit people and make proper arrangements for transportation. Regarding the arrangement, he further added that people trapped in flood-affected areas are being rescued and are moved to safer places. 

More rains expected

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rains in North and Northeast India, including Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi-NCR in the upcoming days.
