Bride gang rape in Rewa: In a harrowing incident, a recently married woman was assaulted near a popular picnic spot in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Eight individuals were taken into custody after five men allegedly raped the victim while three others recorded videos of the assault. One of the perpetrators reportedly claimed to be the son of a local media in-charge, allegedly boasting about immunity from law enforcement.
The victim described the attack: “We visited Bhairo Baba Temple for a darshan, and while returning, we stopped briefly. A man approached us and began harassing us. As we tried to leave, four more men appeared, blocking our way and assaulting us,” she recalled. Despite their pleas, the group of men continued with threats, one stating, “I’m the son of a media in-charge; the police can’t touch us.”
The woman and her husband repeatedly begged the attackers to let them go, explaining they were newly married. Ignoring their pleas, the men escalated the assault, physically restraining and threatening the couple. “Five men took turns raping me in front of my husband, all while recording it on their phones,” the woman stated.
Throughout the ordeal, the attackers reportedly taunted the couple, claiming that neither police nor local officials could intervene against them. The victim further alleged that the group boasted of conducting similar attacks regularly. During an attempted escape, the assailants seized their valuables, including mobile phones and motorcycle keys. When her husband resisted, he was brutally beaten, even struck with stones when he tried to protect their belongings.
