Former President Ram Nath Kovind who heads the ‘One Nation, One Election’ committee announced on Saturday that the first meeting of the high-level committee to examine and make recommendations for conducting simultaneous polls will be held on September 23.

This came after government on September 2 notified about the 8-member committee to examine and make recommendations for holding simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha, State Assemblies, municipalities and panchayats in the nation.

While talking to media persons during an in event in Bhubneshwar, Kovind said, “The first meeting (of ‘One Nation, One Election’ committee) will take place on September 23.”
