Police have filed a case against Dilip Khedkar, father of former probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, for allegedly threatening and obstructing a public servant. The complaint, lodged by a tehsildar-rank officer from the Pune district collectorate, led to the registration of the case at Bundgarden police station on Friday.

Allegations of threatening behavior

According to officials, the complaint details an incident during Puja Khedkar’s tenure as an assistant collector. Dilip Khedkar is accused of using threatening language towards Tehsildar Dipak Akade, demanding that a cabin be allocated for his daughter. The complaint states that Khedkar had no authority to interfere with administrative decisions, leading to charges under sections 186 (obstructing a public servant in discharge of his duties), 504 (intentional insult), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Controversy surrounding Puja Khedkar

Puja Khedkar's career has been marred by controversy. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently annulled her selection and barred her from all future exams, following allegations of misrepresenting information in her application for the 2022 Civil Services Examination. She is currently untraceable after an FIR was filed against her in Delhi, accusing her of misusing her position and demanding undeserved perks and facilities during her training at the Pune district collectorate.

Previous legal issues

Dilip Khedkar, a retired government official, also faces a criminal intimidation charge in a separate case filed by the Paud police. The case involves an incident where his wife, Manorama, allegedly brandished a gun during a land dispute in the Mulshi area. While Dilip Khedkar secured anticipatory bail, Manorama Khedkar, who was arrested by Pune rural police, was recently granted bail by the court.
