Fear of Khalistani attack looms over Independence Day, Delhi on high alert

New Delhi: After the attack on former US President Donald Trump, Delhi Police has heightened its alertness. According to reports, Khalistani organizations are plotting a big conspiracy in Delhi on Independence Day. These groups plan to display posters with Khalistani slogans throughout the capital on August 15. Moreover, Delhi Police has received threats of targeted killings. In response, the police force is on high alert.

High-level meetings 

To address this serious situation, the Delhi Police Commissioner convened a high-level meeting. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place to ensure no lapses occur on Independence Day. Due to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flag-hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort will be under tight security.

Recent rise in Khalistani incidents

Khalistan supporter Gurpant Pannu will attempt to disrupt the peace by placing pro-Khalistan posters around the city on August 15.

Punjab Police takes action

Recently, Punjab Police took decisive action against the Khalistani network. Three associates of Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa were arrested. These individuals were involved in extortion, arms trafficking from Pakistan, drug-related crimes, and other illegal activities. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the arrested suspects are linked to Lakhbir Landa, who is currently hiding in Canada.
