In a shocking incident from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a man shot his 20-year-old daughter just days before her wedding. The reason behind this tragedy was her refusal to marry the groom her father had chosen, insisting instead on marrying the man she loved.

The tragic incident

The victim, identified as Tanu Gurjar, had expressed her fears days before the incident. In a 48-second video she recorded, Tanu revealed that she was in love with a man named Vicky, whom she had been in a relationship with for six years. Initially, her family had agreed to their marriage but later changed their stance, pressuring her to marry someone else.

“They hit me daily and threaten to kill me,” Tanu said in the video. “If anything happens to me, my family will be responsible. I cannot marry someone else.”

Despite the preparations for her wedding, scheduled for January 18, Tanu stood firm in her refusal. Her father, Mahesh Singh, who runs a roadside eatery, had arranged the wedding according to his choice. Unable to tolerate her defiance, Mahesh entered her room around 9 PM on Tuesday with a firearm and shot her in the face.

Police investigation

The sound of the gunshot drew family members to the scene, where they found Tanu’s lifeless body drenched in blood. Mahesh was still holding the weapon, and Tanu’s cousin Rahul reportedly had a pistol in hand. Mahesh was arrested at the scene, while Rahul fled and remains at large.

Gwalior SP Dharamveer Singh confirmed the involvement of both the father and cousin in the crime. Forensic teams, led by senior scientist Akhilesh Bhargav, examined the scene. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the case.
