UP News: An 18-year-old Class 12 student from Saraswati Balika Mandir Inter College, Khaga, Fatehpur, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday after jumping from the third floor of her college earlier in the week. The tragic incident has been linked to ongoing harassment by a school bus driver and an alleged assault by the college principal when the girl sought help.According to the police, the bus driver, 58-year-old Shiv Charan, has been arrested, while the principal, Raj Kapoor Singh, remains at large. Fatehpurs Superintendent of Police, Dhaval Jaiswal, confirmed the students death, stating, “We are altering the FIR to include abetment of suicide. In one instance, the driver tried to force her off the bus a kilometer from her stop, an argument that escalated the tension between them.The victims complaints to the school principal allegedly fell on deaf ears. Instead of addressing her grievances, the principal reportedly assaulted her. The students father explained that after repeated incidents, the harassment and physical abuse became unbearable.Desperate actOn the day of the incident, the student was allegedly punished by being forced to stand in the sun for an extended period. During the fifth period, she sought permission to leave class, and moments later, she jumped from the third floor. The police have launched a full investigation, with three teams assigned to apprehend the absconding principal. There are also reports of prior complaints against him for mistreatment of students.
