In a devastating road accident in Bilaspur, a child lost their life while over 30 others sustained injuries on Sunday when a passenger bus overturned due to alleged negligence by the driver, confirmed a police official. The incident occurred on the Lalkhadan Over Bridge within the Torwa police station area, with the bus reportedly carrying more than 50 passengers at the time.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajnish Singh of Bilaspur provided details, stating, "A bus carrying more than 50 passengers overturned in Bilaspur. The incident took place on the Lalkhadan Over Bridge in Torwa police station area." He noted that immediate response efforts saw the injured rushed to hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Confirming the toll, SP Rajnish Singh mentioned, "A child tragically lost their life in the accident, and more than 30 individuals sustained serious injuries. Local residents assisted in transporting the injured to hospitals for treatment." The cause of the accident, he emphasised, was attributed to the driver's negligence.
Assuring support for the injured, SP Rajnish Singh added, "The administration is ensuring that the injured receive necessary medical care." A case has been registered, and authorities have initiated further investigations into the incident.
Expressing condolences, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took to social media, stating, "Received the tragic news of a girl's death and injuries to 30-35 passengers after a bus overturned near Bilaspur. The injured have been admitted to SIMS and district hospital." He directed the district collector to ensure adequate arrangements for the injured and offered prayers for the deceased child's soul and swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
