Farmers Protest: The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have announced the enforcement of restrictions under CrPC Section 144 across the district in anticipation of the Bharat Bandh scheduled by farmers' unions on Friday.
Commuters traveling to and from Delhi are advised to expect traffic diversions in Noida and are encouraged to utilize the metro rail service to minimize inconvenience, according to the Noida Police.
The decisions come in light of planned protest marches by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and other unions. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), a part of SKM, has spearheaded the call for the Bharat Bandh on February 16, citing unresolved farmer demands.
Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) will be enforced, prohibiting unauthorized assemblies, processions, or demonstrations, including those of political or religious nature.
Intensive checks will be conducted at Noida-Delhi borders, with diversions and traffic management measures in place. Goods vehicles' arrival will be restricted on certain routes to Delhi to mitigate traffic congestion.
BKU leader Pawan Khatana urged farmers to abstain from work for the day to pressure the government for their demands. The strike also calls on traders and transporters to join the protest.
Local traders have appealed to both farmers and the government to engage in dialogue for a swift resolution, citing disruptions to daily business activities and inconveniences faced by citizens.
The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) has extended its support to the Bharat Bandh and plans to gather outside the NTPC office in Sector 24 to advance the cause.
As preparations for the Bharat Bandh intensify, Noida authorities are taking proactive steps to ensure public safety and manage traffic disruptions while various stakeholders await developments in the ongoing dialogue between farmers and the government.
