After nearly two weeks of suspension following the 'Delhi Chalo' protest by farmers, mobile services were restored in seven districts of Haryana on Sunday. The inititial suspension on February 11 was extended on multiple ocassions until February 24.
The mobile internet services that were suspended 2 weeks ago were restored in 7 Haryana districts on Sunday. Mobile internet services and bulk SMSes will now be available in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa. The authorities imposed internet ban on February 11 and was extended till February 24.
The suspension of mobile internet was implemented by the Home Department to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the specified jurisdictions. The affected districts include
The ongoing 'Delhi Chalo' farmer protest is being spearheaded by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) to pressurise the Centre to accept farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver. The farmers have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri points of the state's border with Haryana since February 13, when their march was stopped by security personnel.
