Farmers at the Shambhu border, located on the Punjab-Haryana border, are intensifying their protest and will march towards Delhi on December 6 to demand a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), according to Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) General Secretary, Sarwan Singh Pandhair. The protest has been ongoing for nearly 284 days, with farmers determined to see their demands addressed.

In a recent video message, Sarwan Singh Pandhair announced that the KMSC will hold a crucial meeting at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in Delhi tomorrow. "We will present a blueprint of our future plans. On December 6, we will begin our march towards Delhi from the Shambhu Morcha. This struggle will continue until our demands are met," Pandhair said, signaling the escalation of their efforts. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and KMSC will also meet to inform the public about the next steps in their protest.

BJP and elections: A critique from farm leader

Pandhair took the opportunity to criticise the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in light of recent elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and other by-elections. He predicted that once the elections were over, the BJP would abandon the divisive temple-mosque issue. "When elections are over, the BJP, which controls the government in Delhi, will forget the temple-mosque issue," Pandhair remarked.

Appeal to PM Modi over Manipur crisis

The farm leader also voiced his concern about the ongoing violence in Manipur. Pandhair appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate action, stating, "The way we are seeing Manipur burning, and with local people alleging police brutality, the situation is worsening. We urge the Prime Minister to pay attention to this crisis." He emphasized that all political parties should rise above politics to address the human rights violations in the region.

Protests and blockades continue in Punjab

On October 26, farmers in Punjab staged large-scale protests, blocking national highways in Phugwara, Sangrur, Moga, and Batla to demand timely paddy procurement and other solutions. Farm leader Jaswinder Soma Ugrahan explained that the government had failed to provide a resolution to their issues, prompting the farmers to take action by blocking highways at multiple locations.
