Farmers' Protest: Internet services suspended in 2 districts of Punjab from Feb 28 to March 1

Internet services have been suspended in the Punjab districts of Patiala and Sangrur from February 28 to March 1 due to ongoing farmer protests.

Mobile internet services were banned in Punjab's Patiala and Sangrur districts from February 28 to March 1 amid ongoing farmer protests. The temporary suspension spans from February 28 at 00:00 hrs to March 1 at 23:59 hrs.

According to the official order, internet access is blocked in areas under the police stations in Shambhu, Patran and Shatrana in Patiala and the Khanauri station in Sangrur.

Earlier, the Haryana government imposed an internet and bulk SMS ban in Ambala Sadar, Panjokhra and Naggal regions of Ambala from February 28 to February 29 as farmer protests continue at borders. Mobile internet services had just been restored on Sunday, February 25.

The Ambala ban, effective February 28 at 00:01 hrs to February 29 at 23:59 hrs, came after a request from the Ambala deputy commissioner on February 26 citing the farmer protests.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are leading the 'Delhi Chalo' agitation to pressure the Centre on demands including legal MSP guarantees and farm loan waivers. Protesting farmers from Punjab taking part in the march have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana.
