Farmers are protesting for many demands including legal guarantee on MSP. Many other farmer organizations of the country may participate in the Rail Roko protest. The Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), Bharti Kisan Union (Dakaunda-Dhaner), and the Krantikari Kisan Union will also participate in the protest. According to the media reports, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that hundreds of farmers will sit on the railway tracks in many districts of Punjab and Haryana including Ferozepur, Amritsar, Rupnagar and Gurdaspur.
Farmers are adamant on the demand of making a law on MSP. The decision to protest has been taken after the United Kisan Morcha rejected the Centre's proposal regarding guaranteed purchase of pulses, maize and cotton at MSP.
Sarwan Singh Pandher said that passengers will face problems due to rail stoppage, but this date was announced only on March 3. He said he appeals to passengers to wait at railway stations during these hours or plan their journey before noon or after 4 pm.
