The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), which are leading the farmers' protest, has decided to postpone the 'Delhi Chalo' till February 29.
Addressing a press conference at Khaneri border on Friday evening, farmer leader Sawan Singh Pandher said that the Delhi Chalo march has been paused till February 29.
Farmers protesting to press the Centre for their various demands will remain at the two protest sites on the Punjab-Haryana border until February 29, when the next course of action will be decided.
According to the report, the farmers outlined their plans for the upcoming days, including a candle march on February 24, seminars on farmers' issues on February 25, and effigy burnings on February 26. Meetings of SKM and KMM forums are scheduled for the following days.
It is to be noted that the development occured hours after Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann announced a Rs 1 crore compensation package and a goverment job for Singh's sister. Singh, a native of Bathinda, was killed and 12 police personnel were injured in clashes at Khanauri border point on the Punjab-Haryana border on Wednesday. Farmer leaders are also demanading a martyr status for Singh.

The farmers are demanding a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pension for farmers and farm labourers, no hike in electricity tariff, among others.
