Khera emphasized that out of the 201 recommendations put forth by the Swaminathan Commission, the UPA government had implemented 175 recommendations. Congress leadership, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, announced the decision to legally guarantee MSP for crops—a historic move benefitting 62 crore farmers across the nation.

Addressing Prime Minister Modi's past advocacy for MSP, Khera recalled Modi's previous support for MSP as Chief Minister of Gujarat. Khera criticised the Modi government's failure to fulfil promises made during previous protests and the absence of concrete action or committees to address farmer concerns. Instead, farmers protesting for MSP are met with harsh repression, including the use of rubber bullets and tear gas, further exacerbating tensions.
