Amid a standoff with the farmers who are demonstrating their demands, the Haryana Police in the Ambala District have stated that any damage done to private or public property during the protest will be made up for by seizing the protestors' bank accounts and attaching their belongings.

According to a press release from the Ambala police, on February 13, 2024, farmer unions are making continuous efforts to break the barricades that are being imposed on the Shambhu Border by the farmers in order to facilitate their march to Delhi. They will also be making daily attempts to undermine law and order by throwing stones at the police administration and causing disturbances. Over this time, encroachment has seriously damaged both private and public property.

Sharing the press note on the X handle, Ambala Police mentioned, “Proceedings to compensate for the loss of government property during the farmers' movement, attachment of property of the agitators and seizure of bank accounts have been initiated.”

"Proceedings have been initiated under the NSA National Security Act 1980/NSA against the chief officials of farmer organizations and the agitators," the Ambala police said on X.

More unions likely to join farmers’ protest

Apart from this, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait declared on Thursday that the protesting farmers, led by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), will observe a "Black Friday" on Friday, in response to a farmer's death at the Khanauri Border crossing in Sangrur district, Punjab, during the current protests.

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), which has avoided from stirring up a stir until Thursday, issued a call for more intense protests, including a "Jan Aakrosh" rally on Friday, a statewide tractor rally on roads on February 26, and a mahapanchayat in Delhi's Ramlila Ground on March 14.
