Farmers' Protest: As the 'Delhi Chalo' march by farmers continues to gain momentum, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has squarely placed the blame on the Modi government, labelling the ongoing situation as a failure of central leadership. Owaisi emphasized the importance of Prime Minister Modi addressing the farmers' demands, suggesting that doing so would be politically advantageous in the upcoming elections.
In a scathing critique of the central government's handling of the farmers' protest, Owaisi highlighted the failure to address key demands such as a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the implementation of the Swaminathan Committee formula. He expressed bewilderment at the government's response, likening it to an exaggerated military operation rather than a peaceful demonstration. Urging immediate action, Owaisi stressed that meeting the farmers' demands would bolster the Prime Minister's electoral prospects.
Meanwhile, tensions escalated at the Shambhu border as authorities attempted to prevent protestors from reaching the national capital. Reports depicted chaotic scenes as farmers encountered tear gas and water cannons deployed by law enforcement. The border was fortified with concrete slabs, iron nails, and barricades, underscoring the intensity of the standoff between protestors and authorities.
The farmers' agitation, spearheaded by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, centres around 12 key demands presented to the central government. These demands include MSP guarantees, debt waivers, and the repeal of contentious agricultural laws. The protestors remain steadfast in their resolve, determined to ensure their grievances are addressed by the government.
In addition to commenting on the farmers' protest, Owaisi addressed the recent murder of AIMIM secretary Abdul Salam alias Aslam Mukhiya in Gopalganj, Bihar. Owaisi criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government for its apparent failure to maintain law and order, citing a lack of decisive action following the tragic incident. He expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in Bihar, emphasizing the government's responsibility in ensuring the safety of its citizens.
As tensions continue to mount on various fronts, Owaisi's remarks underscore the need for proactive measures to address pressing socio-political issues and restore confidence in governance.
