New Delhi: The father of the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkatas RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 expressed deep dissatisfaction with the handling of his daughters case. He claimed that her body was cremated in undue haste, despite there being three other bodies at the crematorium. “There were three bodies at the crematorium, but our daughters body was cremated first,” he told media.The victims father also voiced his frustration with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjees response, accusing her of obstructing those seeking justice. “The Chief Minister speaks of justice, but ordinary citizens demanding it are being silenced or jailed. We are not satisfied with Mamata Banerjees handling of the incident and have refused any compensation from the government,” he added.CBI takes over the caseHe further expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, alleging that the entire system, including the medical college and department, was involved in a cover-up. “No real progress has been made in the investigation. We are hopeful, but it seems like the entire department is complicit,” he said. The victims family also accused the state government of stifling the statewide protests over her death. “The Chief Minister is taking steps to curb protests even as she participates in them herself,” the father alleged.The victims mother reiterated her call for justice before considering any financial compensation. “I demand the harshest punishment for those responsible. Only then will I consider accepting compensation from the state government Justice must come first,” she said.
