Family conflict leads to teenager drinking Sindoor Oil; Lover ends life in despair

A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in a village under the Kotwali area of Jaunpur, where a teenage girl, distressed by her family's reprimands, consumed a harmful mixture of sindoor (vermilion) and mustard oil, leaving her critically ill. The situation took a tragic turn when her lover, upon learning of her condition, ended his life by hanging himself.

Love story under strain

The ill-fated teenagers had been in a relationship for a while and dreamed of getting married. However, their families opposed their union due to their young age. The tension between the two families reached a boiling point a few days ago when the boy reportedly sent an inappropriate video to the girl's mobile phone. Her family discovered the video and scolded her harshly, leaving her emotionally distraught.

Girl consumes poison in despair

On Saturday, unable to bear the reprimand, the girl mixed sindoor with mustard oil and ingested it. As her condition worsened, her family rushed her to a private hospital for immediate treatment. News of her critical state quickly reached the boy, who visited her at the hospital but left shortly after.

Lover takes his own life

Tragedy struck again when, later that evening, the boy was found hanging from a tree. Local police, led by Station Officer Deependra Singh, confirmed that the boy had taken his life due to the distressing circumstances. His body was sent for post-mortem examination, while the girl remains under medical care in critical condition.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter, with further action to be determined following the post-mortem report. This incident highlights the devastating consequences of emotional strain on young lives.
