Crime News: A harrowing case of violence in a live-in relationship has emerged in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, where a woman was found with her throat slit. The victim, currently in critical condition, is receiving treatment in the ICU at AIIMS Trauma Center. Authorities have apprehended the suspect, and an investigation is underway.
The victim's son has accused the suspect of luring his mother into a romantic relationship through Facebook, eventually leading her to Delhi under false pretenses. Once there, she was allegedly subjected to abuse. The son claims that when his mother resisted, the suspect violently attacked her by slitting her throat. She had only arrived in Delhi from her village one or two weeks prior to this horrific incident.
The incident came to light on August 4 when ASI Jagjit Singh of the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) informed Lajpat Nagar police station about a woman found severely injured and lying in a pool of blood near Anna Dosa, E-Block, Lajpat Nagar. The prompt action of the police and ERV ensured the woman was quickly transported to the hospital, which proved crucial in saving her life.
According to the victim's son, the suspect had been extorting money from his mother and subjected her to physical abuse whenever she failed to comply. In a shocking turn, the suspect allegedly sent the son objectionable photos and videos of his mother, threatening to make them viral on social media if he tried to contact her.
Despite no PCR call being made, the timely response by the ERV and police saved the victim’s life, drawing praise from local residents for their immediate action. The investigation is ongoing as authorities interrogate the accused to uncover further details of this disturbing case.
