New Delhi: A woman and her companion have alleged that they were harassed by BJP workers on the newly inaugurated Meerut-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express, which was virtually flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. The incident, which occurred during the train's inaugural journey, has sparked outrage and controversy.

Serious allegations against BJP workers

The woman recounted her ordeal to reporters, stating that she and her companion were confronted while moving through the train to get food. According to her, a man blocked their path, claiming that the cabin was reserved for BJP members and that they were not permitted to pass through.

"We were passing through the cabin to take food when an uncle stopped us, saying it is BJP's cabin and we cannot go through it," she explained. The situation quickly escalated when they attempted to return, leading to a heated argument and a physical altercation. "When we were returning, they started arguing and pushed us, asking why we were frequently moving around the cabin. We are also connected with the BJP, but these kinds of people defame the party," she added.

Companion's outrage

Her companion, who identified themselves as a BJP supporter and social media influencer invited to cover the train’s inauguration, expressed his frustration over the incident. "BJP hired us as influencers. They consider the train as their personal property and were misbehaving with my sister," he stated.

What has Railway DRM said?

Railway DRM Rajkumar Singh commented on the situation involving the social media influencer aboard the Vande Bharat train, saying, "There is a little more enthusiasm. There is more excitement. Sometimes small incidents happen."

Political reactions

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, with Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed condemning the alleged behavior. "This is completely unacceptable. The train is public property, not a personal or BJP asset," she posted on X. The Congress party also shared a viral video clip of the incident, commenting, "This video is a witness to the conduct, character, and face of the BJP."
